The Eternal Legend of Taj Mahal

Tauhid Nasir
Visited: Jan 25, 2007

The destination that I visited recently is Taj Mahal at Agra. It is an immense mausoleum of white marble built in Agra between 1631 and 1648, by an order of the mughal emperor Shah Jahan in memory of his wife Mumtaz Mahal. This is an eternal monument I love and the Pride of India. This is one of the universally admired master pieces among the Heritages of India. This monument in pristine marble has been truly acclaimed as one among the Seven Wonders of the World. Legend has it that the emperor, who was Shattered at the death at his wife, went into mourning and vowed to erect a sublime mausoleum in her memory unlike any other in the world. It took 2000 laborers, 22 years to construct this world renowned edifice. The central chambers hold a breath taking aura, with its shadow true light gracefully filtering through the double set of marble screen into Octagonal shape. Besides numerous tourist destinations in India, Taj Mahal is most attractive monument, a visitor would romance with.
