Ooty – Pride of South India

Rajiv Mathur
Visited: February 23, 2007

Last year on my annual trip to South India, my mother expressed new desire to visit Ooty. This is one of the famous hill stations of Tamilnadu that can be reached via train as well. The view of the tea estate en-route the zig zag path to Ooty is breath taking apart from the magnetic view the beautiful flora and fauna along the amazing weather which makes you feel like going for a picnic every day. There are a few things one must see in Ooty.

“Dooda Betta” is one of the highest peek in Ooty. There one can find few naughty monkeys. The lush flora and the panoramic view of Ooty from the peak is totally worth the effort of climbing.“Rose Garden” is a-treat for all flora lovers, as the Rose Garden has roses of every color and species that you could imagine Also the sweet romantic scent of the roses can entice anyone from a mile away.

“Botanical Garden” is a wide patch of greenery where you can find trees from the rare Rudraksh tree to the common Gulmohar. The plants here are also used to a curative way to look like the map of the world and various creatures of the planet. These are just a few of the famous spots that a two day visitor like me can see. However for adventure lovers, there are much more to explore and much more to discover.
