Buddhist Temple Tour

Bodh Gaya - Holy City of Lord Buddha in Bihar

Visited: July 13th, 2006

I visited my village in Bodh Gaya recently, famous as a Buddhist Pilgrimage destination. Situated on National Highway, 12 km from Gaya town, it is a very peaceful and serene place. It is amazing to see the patience of people, who have to live with poor infrastructure and lack of basic amenities. The roads are congested and in 20 ft, there is room for hand driven, Rickshaws, Carts, Bikes, Cars, pedestrians and even animals. As poured road were blocked with water, and 404 have to be extra careful to not fall in the drainage water. Yet people are calm, and each is giving way to other. There is no large to skip, to run away to speed away. People are moving in discipline manner, and that too without and traffic police. Bodh Gaya is also home to many monuments - the famous Mahabodhi temple, where centuries ago Gautama Buddha got enlightenment. The temple is wonderful peace of art, and has separate buildings made by different countries.

A known tourist spot on the globe, it should be visited by people for its historical importance and architectural splendor.
