The Fairy Queen

Fairy Started for the first time in1855, the engine of Fairy Queen is probably the oldest working engine in the world. After over 142 years, the Fairy Queen rolled again on 1st February 1997 from Delhi. Finding its pride place in the Guinness Book of World Records and also National Tourism Award winner this prestigious pristine beauty graces the National Rail Museum, New Delhi. The Queen takes you to the picturesque town of Alwar in Rajasthan and on the same day, the Guests are taken to Sariska Tiger Reserve for an overnight stay. This train has got only a first class chair car having 50 seats and a pantry car for on board catering.

History of Fairy Queen in India
This amazing train traveled from Howrah to Ranigunj (121 miles) on its maiden journey in 1885. Till 1908, after serving for 23 years, it was considered for retirement. The years 1908 to 1971 were spent in oblivion, but it survived the ravages of time. In 1971, it became an exhibit of the National Rail Museum. But in year 1997, after a complete over haul in Perambur Workshop of the Southern Railway, Fairy Queen once again rolled along 50 guest.
