Bandipur National Park And Tiger Reserve : A
Project Tiger Reserve with a core zone of 874.20 sq.km, Bandipur lies on a
hilly plateau with a n average elevation of 800 meters over the mean sea
level. With its location under the shadow of the Western Ghats, Bandipur is
easily one of the finest habitats of the Asian Elephant.
Bandhavgarh National Park : Set among the
Vindhya Hills of Madhya Pradesh with an area of 168 square miles, this
national park contains a wide variety of habitats and high density of game,
including a large number of tigers.
Corbett National Park : Located in the
Patlidun Valley at the base of the Himalayas in the state of Uttar Pradesh,
Corbett was established in 1936, as the Hailey National Park. India's first
national park and the first sanctuary to come under Project Tiger, Corbett
supports a variety of vegetation making it the ideal habitat for the Tiger
and its prey.
Kaziranga National Park : Located on the banks
of the mighty Brahmaputra River, Kaziranga covers an area of approximately
430 sq kms with its swamps and tall thickets of elephant grass making it the
ideal habitat for the Indian one-horned rhino.
