Cultural India
Mark Twain once remarked that "India is the cradle of the human race,
the birthplace of human speech, the matter of legends, and the great
grandmother of tradition." India, a land of unique vision, with an
excellent heritage is known for its remarkable cultural dimensions. India's
size and range of climate and landscape are so great that it is often called
a subcontinent. India's diverse region is made up of snow-covered peaks,
flowery valleys, the desert of Thar, sandy beaches, coconut groves and the
Indian Ocean.
Capturing the true essence of evolution, the culture of India stretches to
over 5000 years. India's culture has been enriched by successive waves of
migration which were absorbed into the Indian way of life. India is a
melting pot of religions. In this country the Hindus, Muslims, Christians,
Sikhs, Parsis, Jews and many other religious sects live side by side in
relative harmony. Inspite of diversity, one common aspect is that Indians
love to celebrate, whether it's Diwali, Id, Pongal or Christmas. Every
region in India has a traditional dance that is handed down from generation
to generation.
