Uttarakhand, earlier called as Uttaranchal till year 2007, is popularly known among Indians as “Devbhoomi” i.e. abode of gods. This is the region positioned amidst the lofty Himalayan mountains boasts of having the hordes of pilgrimages, worth-visiting natural sites, and numerous fun-filled exciting activities to be indulged in. This state is comprised of two distinctive regions, which are amalgamated into one viz. Garhwal and Kumaon. History of Uttarakhand:

This place had been originally a part of the northern Indian state of Uttar Pradesh, which was later on segregated into separate state in year 1998. The original inhabitants of the region had been Kols. Later on this region also attracted a population of Indo-Aryan Khas tribes. This place is also said to have served as the abode for the several renowned and enlightened Indian sages and hermits who would inhabit the region to serve their spiritual pursuit.
