Uttar Pradesh at a Glance:

Position of state:  State of Uttar Pradesh id divided into Western Uttar Pradesh, Central Uttar Pradesh and Central Uttar Pradesh and is flanked by state of Rajasthan to the west, Uttarakhand and Nepal along side the norther frontier, along eastern border, the state of Bihar, Haryana and Delhi states to the North-west side, Jharkhand to south-east and to the south-west lies the state of Madhya Pradesh. While city of Luchnow enjoys being the capital of state, city of Kanpur is declared as the industrial capital of state.

Official Languages: Hindi and Urdu

Costume:.While Sherwani, Kurta, dhoti and pyjama form the traditional dresses for males, women adorn themselves in the dresses like, sari, Ghagara cholis, salwar suits churidars.

A gist on Uttar Pradesh:
The 5th largest state area-wise, the most populous state at the national level and most populous country subdivision at the international level is the region of North India called Uttar Pradesh that boast of having the birth place of lord Ram and where from sprouts the most sacred epic of Hindus, the Ramayana. This state has been the seat for several powerful kings and rulers in past and also has given birth to many many renowned personalities who have given the matchless example of excellence in various field of human activities. When it comes to Uttar Pradesh tourism, the state has to offer a lot.

History of Uttar Pradesh:
Originally this state had been the part of the grand Buddhist empire administered by emperor the great Ashoka. Gradually, The state was dragged under the dominance of the foreign invaders first by the Mughals and then Britishers, who reined in the whole territory for considerable length of time and left behind them number of relics of their time. This state is the place that boasts of having been the witness of the first war of independence against the foreign yoke waged  in year 1857. During this period many of the prominent Indians put up great battles and immortalized themselves on the pages of History and prominent people among them are Mangal Pandey, Laxmibai, the queen of Jhansi and many others.

Sightseeing in Uttar Pradesh:
A trip to Uttar Pradesh will open to you the portal of numerous visit-worthy spots that dot every nook and cranny. While, Varanasi is considered to be the spiritual capital of the state, Lucknow boasts of being the city of nawaabs. Ayodhya is the birthplace of lord Rama, and then Prayag is the sacred confluence, where the three believed-to-be-most sacred rivers meet, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati. Many of the past rulers during medieval times, whose voices would ever resound in the atmosphere coupled with the clinging sounds reverberating around during the wars waged by them, on whose command the legions of horse riders would shoot forth in the battle fields in herds have all now been evaporated into thin air but the traces left by them in forms of multitude of forts, parks, gardens, mosques, temples etc have survived till date and stand as the mute witness of the bygone time lost somewhere in the mist of oblivion.

Among other tourist places to visit in Uttar Pradesh are number of museums and water parks. This is the state which has given birth to number of scholars, renowned poets and sages like Tulsidas who composed the great epic Ramayana, converting it from Sanskrit into local hindi language, Sage Kabirdas the unique personality and most intelligent sage giving the message of universal brotherhood, the great political leader like Lalbahadur Shastri, the great author like Munsi premchand and great film actor like Amitabh Bachchan. Many of the places here like kalinjar, Jhansi, Agra, etc are much exaggerated in the history text books of the students going to schools and colleges. Among other worth-visiting tourist places in Uttar Pradesh are Mahoba, Meerut, Sarnath, Sravasti, Kanpur, Kushinagar and many others

Music:  State of Uttar Pradesh has a rich compilation of music genres in various forms ditictive region wise such as Purbaiya Ang, Birha, Chaiti, Kajari, Ghazal, Thumari, Qauwwali, Marsiya, Rasiya and so on.

Cuisine: State of Uttar Pradesh is famous in both the forms of cuisines i.e. Veg and Non-veg. The state has been divided in to 3 distinctive regions viz. Western, eastern and Oudh. The list of cuisine specialties incorporate the dishes like Kabobs, Niharis, biryanis, Rampuri Rohu, Zamindoz, Tahri and Reshmi kabobs. Murg Musallam, Khurchan, Peda, Shahi tukda of Oudh are the additional attractions.

While the classical dance forms include Kathak, the list of folk dance forms include Charkula, Karma, Paidanda, Tharu, Dhobia, Rai and Shera.
