Hussain Sagar Lake: Although Hyderabad is particularly known for the globally famous historic monument of Charminar, nevertheless, there are certain places hidden in its belly which claim to be older than Charminar and yet remain off sight. Spread in an area of 24 kilometers, Hussain Sagar Lake is one of such historic monuments, which is surrounded by a number of head turning tourist attractions as if a beautifully beaded garland of flowers adorn the neck of Hindu gods and goddesses. Credit behind construction of this picturesque lake alongside river Musi goes to famous Sufi saint Hazrat Hussain Shah Wali in year 1562. Construction of this lake had been effected during regime of Ibrahim Quli Qutb shah with the objective to meet the water requirements of the inhabitants of the town.
With the passage of time, this lake came to be popularly called as Tank Bund. A number of additional attractions for the tourists arose in course of time around this lake as described below:
Indira Park: Named after Indira Gandhi, Prime minister of India, this park is the oldest park out of all other parks around Hussain Sagar Lake. The park features a number of attractions for the tourists. Added attractions in the park come from the construction of an award winning rock garden, designed under supervision of Subrata Basu, the then commissioner of excise duty and customs. Also, there can be sighted clusters of sandal wood trees, which are useful in manufacturing of cosmetic products. Also, this park has been the most favored place to organize the rallies by political parties and different organization to highlight their issues. Also, this park enjoys preference by a number of film makers to shoot a film. Also, tourists can find one big nursery enclosed in the park that procures tourists saplings free of cost. Another big attractions situated at stone’s throw distance from this park is the famous temple dedicated to Katta Maiasamma.
Lumbini Park: This is a very very picturesque and enchanting park to delight the tourists. The park boasts of a basketful of attractions for the tourists and young ones. The park has been named after a garden Lumbini which is believed to have been the birth place of Lord Gautam Buddha. After being welcomes with the appealing floral clock at the very entrance of this park, there is a heaven inside in form of the rock garden well design on model of Japanese style. There can be also be seen a musical fountain that dances to the tune of music played. A laser auditorium forms the added attraction that brings to light the glorious history of Andhra Pradesh. Also, there is one imposing statue of lord Gautama Buddha, that forms the big cynosure for the tourists. This park also boasts of providing the tourists with the great provisions to enjoy boat riding. The park was later on renamed as T. Anjaiah Lumbini Park to immortalize the Tanguturi Anjaiah or Ramakrishna Reddi Talla chief minister of state after their demise. This park also had fallen prey to terrorist attacks on 25th August, 2007, when a series of bomb explosions claimed 44 lives. After that now the park has been well spruced up with the metal detectors to prevent any sorts of terrorist attacks.
Birla Mandir: Built by the Birla Foundation, the Birla Mandir has a unique mixture of architectural styles that leaves one spell bound. It was constructed using 2000 tons of white marble bought especially from Rajasthan. The mix of South Indian, Rajasthani and Utkal architectural style is made more spectacular by the beautiful 11 feet tall idol of the temple’s chief deity, Lord Venkateshwar, carved in quintessentially Orissan style. Tourists can also view exotic Rajasthani paintings in the Geeta Bhavan depicting scenes of Ramayana and Mahabharta.
NTR Garden: This is indeed another jewel in the basket of Hyderabad. The park has been constructed enclosing the location where memorial of the great personality like NTR or Nandamuri Taraka Rama Rao has been built. NTR was an enlightened soul playing multiple roles in form of a renowned actor, successful director, film producer and also as Chief minister of state of Andhra Pradesh leading Telugu Desham Party. The park boast of a number of attractions to amuse the tourists and included in the list are Japanese style of construction of the garden, Car cafe, Ant hill, Machan tree, fruit restaurant, outlets selling mementoes and the like. Also, there is very good provision for entertainment of kids in a separate area of the park.
Yogibear Children’s Park: This is another great attraction for the tourists visiting Hussain sagar lake. this park is particularly earmarked for kids with its rich provisions for entertainments. Construction of this park was effected in year 2001 and is kept open for through out of day from 10 AM till late 10 PM in night. The park has been named after the Yogi Bear, the famous cartoon character.
Attractions in the park:
Gyro Scope: Tourists can have the feel of weightlessness with the help of the space ball like Gyro Scope. Gyro Scope is a device furnished with a rotating inner wheel, which decides its orientation. This device also shows the properties of anti-gravitational force, due to which its is highly used in space shuttles and also in a number of other devices.
Child Play area: there is also a separate area that earmarked particularly for young ones accompanying tourists and this area is stuffed with a multitude of tools like sea swell, climber, multi pondo, sliders and gliders and so on.
Mini Golf tracks: This area is particularly earmarked for Golf playing.
Necklace Road: This road surrounding the famous Hussain Sagar lake like the necklace boasts of a number of attractions to entertain the tourists in form of Jalavihar, Sanjeevaiah Park and eat street. This boulevard has been serving to be the ideal place to indulge in a jogging during morning and at eventide. Tourists strolling around this pathway will encounter a number of admirable and never-to-forget things of tourist interest.
Jalvihar: This is a famous amusement park that welcomes the tourists with its outstretched arms. Tourists can never forget the thrilling experiences of playing aqua-sports in the park in a number of innovative ways. This amusement park offers the loads of funs to tourists with its 3 disparate sections devoted to aqua-sports, fun games and party zone respectively.
Sanjeevaiah Park: Known to be Lover’s park earlier, this is another must visit park adjoining Husain Sagar Lake that forms the major cynosure for the tourists. The park is fraught with and animated with the presence of varieties of bird, kaleidoscopic butterflies and insects. Also, the park is used as the platform to stage a number of Public shows to enhance the mass enlightenment about various ecological aspects. Roller skating is also organized from time to time. An aerial tramway has also been constructed to provide for a link of this park to adjacent Lumbini Park. There are also good provisions to indulge in varieties of aqua sports accompanied by might illumination, rock garden, rose garden and a floral clock. Damodaram Sanjivayya, the erstwhile chief minister of Hyderabad has been an eminent personality and known for his participation in national freedom movement During British regime.
